Herke Kranenborg is member of the Legal Service of the European Commission advising the Commission services responsible for agricultural and fisheries. In this capacity he also represents the Commission before the Court of Justice of the European Union. From 2008 until 2013, he worked at the EDPS, since 2012 as Head of Litigation and Legislative Policy. As from 2010, he is connected to the Institute of European Law of the KU Leuven as affiliated senior researcher. His publications focus on transparency, privacy and data protection in Europe. He has worked at the Europa Instituteof the University of Leiden between 2001 and 2008 and holds a PhD on access to documents and data protection in the European Union.
